Rachel grew up admiring babies and motherhood…she even dressed up as a mom for Halloween one year. After giving birth to her first child in the hospital and realizing the great lack of support and knowledge she had in the process, Rachel became passionate about birth & breastfeeding education. She read books, watched documentaries, and perused through birth stories like it was her job. Having prepared and educated herself, she made it a priority to have a doula present for her second birth, a home birth. Having the support of a doula was an absolute game changer and Rachel realized that birth can be a peaceful experience! After that birth, she began her birth doula training with Birth Arts International and has been attending births in a variety of settings since. After the birth of her third child, also a home birth, she began her postpartum doula training with Birth Arts.
Having received prenatal care in a general hospital setting, birth center, and under the care of a midwife, Rachel has personally seen the full spectrum of maternity care and seeks to provide unbiased support for women, regardless of their birth wishes. As a birth doula, her goal is to provide continuous support and care for the laboring woman and her partner and to facilitate the birthing environment that the family desires. With three birth stories and postpartum experiences of her own- each uniquely different- Rachel knows the incredible value every moment of a woman’s labor and birth have in developing a loving relationship between a mother and her baby. As a postpartum doula, she is very passionate about creating a healthy environment for mom and baby and protecting the sacred first days and weeks to promote bonding- whether that is by folding laundry, creating healthy and nutritious meals, or snuggling new babies to give the new parent(s) a bit of a break.
Rachel lives in the airport area with her husband, Blake, and their three children, ages 3 & under. She loves tackling DIY projects with her husband and playing with her kids outdoors, is newly obsessed with podcasts, enjoys traveling, is a recovering black-thumbed gardener, and loves to paint and cook.
