Erica grew up on a farm in Mt. Juliet, TN alongside her ten siblings. She was the second oldest of the group and really took on the second-mama role. Her infatuation with pregnancy and birth began at the tender age of eight, when she attended the birth of her little brother. Prior to the birth, she begged to go to all of the prenatal appointments and remembers loving every second of it. Following that birth, she was very involved in the pregnancies and births of her next five siblings, including the home birth where she was able to catch her youngest sister!
When she became pregnant with her first child in 2015, Erica discovered what a doula was and how they supported someone through their labor and birth. She finally convinced her husband to hire a doula for their birth and it turned out to be the best decision! They felt really educated and supported through the process and couldn’t imagine their birth without their doula. Her husband was completely won over!
In October 2016, Erica decided to pursue a doula certification for herself and really immersed herself in the birth world. She has loved serving mommas and their families through the pregnancy and birth process ever since.
“It is my passion and my heart for each and every mama (and family) I work with to feel 100% supported, in what EVER decisions they make”
When not doing birth work, Erica enjoys spending time with her husband of nine years and her two daughters (ages 4 and 1). They love going on family walks, going to their local farmer’s market, making bonfires, having family movie nights, going to the zoo and vacationing to their favorite spot, Seaside, Florida.
Erica is certified as a labor and birth doula through Harbor Birth Institute (formerly McDoula).
“I am so SO glad we were able to have Erica for my recent birth (1-5-2020) At first, I’d mistakenly thought baby #3 would be a piece of cake (I’d done this before, right?). However, baby girl decided to take her time and drag out labor into 36 hours. Erica was an invaluable addition to my two midwives and husband, giving me support and encouragement I desperately needed. She also had myriad tools, both physical and mental, to help keep me going when my labor had stalled for some time. It was such a huge support, one that I am so thankful we had. And one that I would choose again in a heartbeat. ”-Sarah D
