Whitney discovered her passion and desire to support families through the birth and postpartum period in 2011. After hiring a doula and experiencing a truly redemptive VBAC birth with her second child, she started her journey to a career in supporting women and their families through labor and birth. Whitney officially trained as a birth doula and in her very first year of opening her first labor and postpartum doula practice in 2013, she passionately supported 40 families as they welcomed new babies into their families, and that was just the beginning. After running her own practice for almost 3 years, serving close to 100 families, and with the great desire to be able to serve more families with the same level of expertise and compassion, she decided to open one of the very first doula agencies in Nashville, Nashville Doulas Services, LLC. Two years later, Vicki Woods joined Whitney as Co-Owner, and they along with their passionate team of doulas have since served over 1000 of families in the greater Nashville area, and only continue to grow.
In 2019, Whitney and Vicki decided to pursue a dream. They purchased and rebranded a local birth doula training, and eventually renamed the program Harbor Birth Institute. Whitney is passionate about helping new doulas find their way to turn their passion into a sustainable, fulfilling career, where they can truly make a difference.
Whitney enjoys spending time with her husband Michael and four children, Cole, Bray, Asa, and Noa, exploring nature, being involved in their local church family, and going to endless ball games.
